Introduction:

I hope that you will be happy with any research that I carry out on your behalf.  However, the following additional information may be of reassurance to you.

Initial Questions:

If you have any questions or concerns prior to instructing research, please contact me either by email, telephone or letter.  I will be more than happy to address any concerns you may have.

No Records to Find:

Records open to research, and in particular prior to 1855, will have errors and omissions in them, and in the records prior to 1855 there are no records for some parishes, and only partial records for others.  If I undertake research on your behalf, I will always:
-let you know before commencing if I consider that the research may be either time consuming or unproductive,
-contact you for further instructions if on commencement the search is proving very much more time consuming than expected,
-only charge you for research time used if you order a set number of hours and there are no further leads to be explored.

Validity / Verification of Information:

I will always quote my sources for information that is provided to you, and will explain which records are proven and the probability or possibility of any other information.  Where there is any doubt as to the validity of information, this will be clearly highlighted.

Dissatisfied with the Service:

If you are dissatisfied with either the quality of service, the costs, or the information supplied, then you should contact me in the first instance to see whether your query can be resolved.  I hope that I can speedily settle any query.  However, if you remain dissatisfied, I am a member of the Association of Scottish Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (ASGRA), and you can contact the Association who will arbitrate.  If you wish to read further about the Association you should click here to access their web site, where you will be able to read their guarantees in more detail.  They will also be able to suggest an alternative genealogist to carry out work for you should you so wish.
