Introduction: |
Born in Glasgow in 1967, I have had an interest in Scottish history since I was a teenager. I grew up in a family interested in their roots, and started genealogical research with my own family history. In 1990 I moved to Edinburgh, where I now live with my husband and son, and over the last eighteen years have gained considerable experience doing genealogical research for others, culminating in my decision to leave my full time job in finance in 2001 and work instead part time in finance and part time as a professional genealogist. Glaswegians have a reputation for friendliness and honesty, which I hope combined with my professional qualifications and experience will encourage you to engage me in your quest to trace your Scottish ancestors! |

Genealogical Qualifications: |
I have completed the course at the University of Glasgow, 'Tracing Your Scottish Ancestors', approved by the Association of Scottish Genealogists and Records Agents (ASGRA), and the course run by the National Archives of Scotland on Scottish Handwriting 1500-1700. In February 2005, after scrutiny of my work, I was admitted as a probationer member of ASGRA, the professional body of Genealogists in Scotland, followed by full membership in 2008. I am conscientious, organised, and seek to maintain the highest standards of accuracy. |

Other Qualifications: |
My professional life prior to genealogy has been in finance. I worked for the Bank of Scotland as an Assistant Manager, then for Gerrard Investment Management. I am a member of the The Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland, following a four year degree level qualification. I also have a Higher National Certificate in Administration and Information Management, which supplied the computer and business skills necessary for today's computer age. |

Other Interests: |
My other main interest is music; I play the piano, and sing weekly in the Edinburgh choir, Cadenza. Other interests include Scottish history, reading, gardening and walking. |
